Reducing stigmatization and bringing a sense of dignity and respect back to people, especially a group that are continuously oppressed and disadvantaged, is a key reason for my current involvement in harm reduction. While unaware growing up, I recognize that PWID exist in all classes, races, and sexes within society, and my current work in harm reduction aims to bring an equitable approach to healthcare.  As a pre-med student, it is important to be an active advocate for change and helpful resource for those in my community. I am more than proud to be a part of IDEA Exchange Tampa, as they work to reduce the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C and restore dignity, by providing harm reduction resources to PWID.
